Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 16, 2026

PDF to Dark Mode is designed as a local-first PDF reader and converter. This Privacy Policy explains what happens when you use the site.

Local PDF Processing

PDF files you open in the tool are processed in your browser. The site does not upload your PDF to our server for preview, dark mode rendering, or conversion.

The browser may hold the PDF in memory while the page is open. When you refresh or close the page, the tool does not keep a copy of the file.

Files and Document Content

We do not intentionally collect or store:

  • PDF file contents.
  • PDF file names.
  • Recent file history.
  • Converted PDF copies.

The converted PDF is generated in your browser and downloaded directly to your device.

Local Preferences

The tool may store non-sensitive preferences in your browser, such as:

  • Selected dark mode theme.
  • Export quality.
  • Image and chart protection setting.

These preferences are stored locally and can be cleared through your browser settings.

Usage Data

Your hosting provider, CDN, analytics provider, or browser may process basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, referring pages, and timestamps. We use this information to operate, secure, and improve the site.

If analytics is enabled, it must not include PDF file names, PDF contents, or uploaded documents.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The site may use cookies or local storage for language and preference settings. If analytics or similar tools are enabled, they may use cookies or comparable technologies according to their own policies.

Third-Party Services

The site may rely on infrastructure providers for hosting, CDN delivery, analytics, email, or error monitoring. These providers may process technical data under their own terms and privacy policies.

Data Retention

We do not retain PDF files because they are not uploaded to us. Technical logs and analytics data, if collected by infrastructure providers, are retained according to the relevant provider configuration.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal data. Contact us if you have privacy questions.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
